Glory Falls

Glory Falls is a painting about redemption—about what can happen when every part of our story is placed in the creative hands of God.

This painting began about seven years ago as In the Midst, an early work filled with experiments in texture, color and materials. I was never completely satisfied with it, and eventually it found its way into the pile with my older paintings.

Years later, I saw it differently.

Rather than erase what was there, I began working with it. Rough textures created unexpected depth. Old colors became the foundation for new ones. Marks made by an inexperienced painter became part of a richness I couldn't have created on a clean canvas.

It reminded me of the promise of Romans 8:28—that God works in all things for our good. Not that everything that happens to us is good. It isn't. But nothing in our lives is beyond His ability to redeem.

In Glory Falls, light pours through the landscape and over the falls. A delicate touch of real gold metallic paint catches the changing light throughout the day—sometimes barely visible, then suddenly illuminated as the light shifts.

One could say this painting has seven years of history in it. It carries something of my journey as an artist, but it also carries something of my own journey in the hands of the Lord.

For me, Glory Falls is a reminder that our mistakes, experiments, losses, and unfinished places don't have to be erased from our story. In the creative hands of God, nothing is wasted. He redeems what we place in His hands, works it for our good and, somehow through it all, reveals His glory through our lives.

Bring Glory Falls into your home or office as a reminder of His creative power to redeem, restore, and transform any life.
